Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (Classic Goosebumps #6)
by R. L. Stine

A good read, even for adults, but could be scary for younger children. Two children explore secret passageways under a pyramid and discover evil goings-on. Not very authentic in its details of the pyramid or Egyptian ritual, but that doesn't detract from the story.

Two children help an Egyptian Queen find her copy of the Book of the Dead. Good introduction to Egyptian culture for younger children.
