Egyptians drank beer. Wine was also available but beer was the national drink. Water from the river Nile was not pure enough to drink. Beer was made from fermenting wheat or barley. It was served in round bowls and you often see images of Pharaohs holding one bowl in each hand or offering them to the gods.
